JDL | Hot Weather Saturday 16/11/2024
15 Nov by Western Magic Communications
Due to the forecasted daytime temperature on the BoM website being 37 degrees or higher for tomorrow, our hot weather policy will be enacted.
These are the changes to the Saturday morning fixtures scheduled on 16/11/2024:
• All U10 games will be played and moved into air-conditioned venues.
• Under 12 girls and 14 girls will be played and moved into air-conditioned venues.
• All under 12 boys and under 14 boys games will be postponed, regardless of which venue they have been fixtured in.
Confirmation of games being moved and their re-fixturing will be sent shortly along with impacted games will be postponed on Basketball Connect. We understand with a significant number of fixture changes this may lead to disruptions to some teams. If a team needs to forfeit tomorrow, then their game will instead be abandoned and not replayed.
We have done this to avoid significant disruptions to the grading process. Therefore, for those being postponed their Round 6 of Phase 2 will be played next weekend. This will allow us to finalise this current phase fairly across the board whilst also playing as many games as possible leading into the next grading phase.
As we are unable to catch up all competitions this will mean the last grading phase (Phase 3) will be reduced from 3 rounds to 2 for Under 12 boys and Under 14 boys (8 rounds total). This isn’t ideal, but our priority is having the first 2 phases completed. If we have another hot weather policy on a Saturday, then Under 12 girls and Under 14 girls will be reduced from 3 rounds to 2 in their last grading phase.
As the final grading phase is being disrupted for these competitions, we will then be open to reviewal with feedback from clubs on their teams’ final grading positions if any teams were adversely affected due to this change.
